2006 MERRY EDWARDS OLIVET LANE
PINOT NOIR

"...earthy, dark cherry aromas and heady chocolate covered cherry flavors–which seem to melt across the tongue. This wine would marry beautifully with crisp roasted duck served with a dark sour cherry sauce and some delicate morel mushrooms sautéed in duck fat. Its solid acidity levels make it very food friendly especially with rich meat and game dishes and earthy foods like mushrooms and root vegetables."

"..precise varietal aroma of red cherries with hints of sweet spices and a dollop of crème brûlée and slightly toasty oak puts it out ahead of the crowd, and its full and impeccably balanced palatal impressions only add to its luster."

"With this bottling Merry Edwards shows that she can work her magic... this wine's focus tends towards the spicy savory elements rather than ripe cherry-like flavors. The fine tannins lend support without being intrusive or dulling the overall lush texture. The incredible finish makes you pause after each sip."

“This has long been one of Merry's go-to vineyard designates, and she's made a good wine from the tricky '06 vintage... with balance and elegance, a complex array of red and black fruits, spice and chewy tannins.”

"Poetry in a bottle, big and elegant enough to give Cab devotees a huge case of Pinot envy. Velvety and balanced with a long, long finish. It's aged in mostly new French oak, so you'll notice that upfront – spice and vanilla, mostly. This is a fabulous food wine, of course, but I'd be inclined to drink it all by itself in front of a roaring fire on a cool autumn evening."
